What inspired the CIC Name?

CIC is an acronym for Common Interest Community which is an alternative term for a condo association or HOA that encompasses both of those types of communities and more. I think Common Interest Community better describes the nature of such communities in that they exist primarily to preserve, enhance and protect the property in the best common interest of the community.
